Why stairs are quoted as a package, not per square metre
A staircase can take as long as a large bedroom even though the area is small. Every tread and riser is cut and fixed individually, winders need templating, and carpet has to be worked around each spindle. That is labour, not floor area — so pricing stairs per square metre makes no sense and usually ends in a bad job or a bad surprise.
We count treads, risers, winders and the landing on the measure, then give you one fixed written price for the whole flight. Hallways, landings and cloakrooms are quoted the same way, for the same reason.
For stairs we usually recommend a hard-wearing wool-blend or a good synthetic twist. They keep their look on the front edge of each tread, which is where stair carpet always wears first. We will bring options and explain wear ratings before you decide anything.
